The newly released "Tokyo Girls" is the latest photo series that captures the world of the Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection. The photos were taken by photographer Max Vadukul, an artist who previously worked on Yohji Yamamoto's visuals in the 1980s and brought a theatrical approach to fashion photography.

No neon lights or crowd noise. All that remains is the skeleton of the city—inorganic structures, tense air, and silent landscapes.

Then four performers, led by actress Ai Hashimoto, appear. Rather than models, they are "characters" walking through the empty spaces of the city, stopping to exchange glances. Wearing looks from the Y's 2025-26 A/W collection, each of their bodies creates a quiet story.

Another striking composition is the "shadow photographer" surrounding the women, wearing Y's for men. His presence creates movement, and the tense shadows further accentuate the contours of the clothes and the character of the city.

The photo series has been compiled into a special art book by Y's Creative Director Claudio Dell'Olio. It marks a new chapter in the series, continuing through Fall/Winter 2023-24, Spring/Summer 2024 and Fall/Winter 2024-25. Animation by filmmaker Daniele Basilico adds a timeline to the story, gently unravelling the moments captured in the photographs and adding further depth to the tension and space between.

"Tokyo Girls" embodies the fundamental questions that the brand Y's has always harbored. What is beauty? What is femininity? How do clothes reflect people's intentions in the city? Emotions fluctuate amidst the stillness. Control and chaos, construction and improvisation - the elegance that is characteristic of Y's emerges somewhere in between.

The Y's 2025-26 A/W collection is scheduled to be available at Y's directly managed stores nationwide and the official online boutique, "THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO," from July 18th.

"I wasn't interested in the Tokyo that everyone imagines. No neon lights or intersections. I wanted to capture the emptiness, pressure, and surveillance that lurks there.- Max Vadukul
