Repetto is revamping its bag collection for the 2016-17 Autumn/Winter season. A launch event was held in Tokyo on July 25th.
Repetto's history began in 1947, when Rose Repetto designed dance shoes in Paris. Since then, the brand has produced a wide range of items, including iconic ballerina shoes, as well as apparel, dance accessories, and bags, all beloved by countless women.
To revamp the bag collection, the brand has hired Europe-based bag designer Yasu Michino. The bags combine Repetto's roots in ballet with his modern sensibility and high-quality materials.
Repetto's iconic "Arabesque" bag series, inspired by the arabesque ballet pose that maximizes the beauty of a dancer, has been updated with a more elegant design. The front features Repetto's signature delicate leather ribbon, an interior pocket, and a choice of large, medium, and small sizes, combining design and functionality.

The "Adage," reminiscent of a camera bag, is a shoulder bag inspired by the classic, fashionable Parisian woman. It is available in a wide range of colors, including black, navy, burgundy, and vivid pink. A special design featuring the traditional French chintz, "Toile de Jouy," will also be released.

The "Coppelia" tote bag is inspired by the beach bags used by French fashion icons on vacation in the 1960s. It features a slender handle, simple stitching, and a coated surface, contrasting with a velvet-like texture on the interior. The "Manège," a modern interpretation of the basket bag also favored by icons of the 1960s, is a basket-shaped bag with a soft lambskin drawstring pouch nestled inside a stiff leather tote. The contrast between the inner and outer materials represents the hardness of the sole of a toe shoe and the satiny surface.

This collection is scheduled to be released at Repetto boutiques nationwide from July 27th.
