Fendi presented its Fall/Winter 2025-26 women's and men's collection by Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, at the Fendi Milan office (Via A. Solari 35, Milan) on February 26, 2025, at 7:30 PM (Italian time).

Reminiscing on the past and moving forward into the future, Silvia Venturini Fendi evokes memories that are both playful and profound. The Fendi 100 celebrates five generations and 100 years of the Maison, which was founded in Rome in 1925 by her grandparents, Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande Fendi. "Fendi evokes the future. I didn't want to spend time digging through the physical archives. For me, the Fendi 100 is about my own memories, real and imagined, of what Fendi was and what Fendi means today," she said on the occasion of the grand Fendi Fall/Winter 2025-26 fashion show, which marked the start of the centennial.

Like a mirage, the renovated Milan showroom recreates the historic salons of the Fendi boutique and atelier on Rome's Via Borgognona, where the five second-generation Fendi sisters, Alda, Anna, Carla, Franca and Paola, worked and played together. Behind the wood-paneled double doors, a world of sumptuous carpets, divans, and chandeliers greeted Alta Sartoria clients by day and Cinecittà's glamorous jet-setters by night. Secrets and stories flowed freely, passed down through generations, as the sense of glamour now synonymous with Fendi was heightened.

Originally a purveyor of handbags and luxury scarves, Fendi's story has been rewritten by Silvia Fendi to reflect the Maison's century-long history. Irony and humour blend with sobriety, sensuality infused with Roman rigour - Fendi's signature ideas abound. The women's and men's collections intertwine sartorial traditions with a subversive take on Italian refinement, where the clothes become the person and the person becomes the clothes.

From the opening silhouette, primitive textures create an optical illusion: a flared coat with a high collar and a rich gold belt cinched at the waist, giving it the appearance of a dress. Intarsia, honeycomb, and Gheronato patchwork techniques, once reserved for the finest furs, are applied here to shearlings imitating fox, mink, and sable. The timeless symbol of the hourglass appears on satin balzac skirts, ruffled colora jackets, and rounded sleeves. Marbled plissé and ribbed knit dresses create curled lettuce hems, eel and lambskin patchworks spill out onto A-line chevron skirts, and a low-cut men's cocoon coat features a hidden martingale for an operatic effect. The changing hues throughout the collection—from laurel, forest green, graphite, chocolate, and petrol blue to fiery sunsets of cinnamon, terracotta, bubblegum, buttermilk, scarlet, and dusty rose—evoke Rome at dusk.

Looking back at 100 years of style, Fendi's tailoring excellence reaches its pinnacle in bracelet-sleeve blazers and stovepipe flares. Boiled wool coats are deconstructed with bold satin linings, and trench coats, a symbol of Italian power dressing, are loosely tailored from lambskin or feature pleated taffeta scarf collars. Men's bags are crafted from powdery wools. For both men and women, Fendi shearling stoles are layered as tailored collars over jewel-toned cardigans, precious lingerie dresses or georgette blouses, combining the weight of a coat with the lightness of a shawl. The leather craftsmanship of the Fendi ateliers is also beautifully expressed in the fluted Selleria coat, reversible between deerskin and suede, and the dazzling Op Art coat, finished with a luxurious geometric intarsia rather than a print.

The allure of Roman evening continues in a play between matte and shiny: quilted satin skirts in wavy patterns, duchesses draped like bishop sleeves, and mirror and crystal embroidery scattered across checked bouclé. Gender play is played out with Chantilly lace adorning cashmere twine and pinstripe chemises, while tulle fringe and fingernail sequins frame a trilogy of Fendi millefoglie evening ensembles, opulent yet airy.

The Fendi Fall/Winter 2025-26 accessories collection is a kaleidoscope of color and decadence, reinterpreting the Maison's signatures with a bold retro-futurist perspective. Even modernists will be impressed by the new FENDI Giano, a moon-shaped bag with a twist-and-click closure. Available as a clutch or shoulder bag, the bag is crafted from two-tone calfskin and features the FENDI squirrel emblem and the image of the god Janus on both sides. The FENDI Spy bag, launched in 2005, returns in a deconstructed construction with twisted handles in sorbet-colored shearling, joining the Peekaboo and Baguette as timeless icons of the Maison. Shearling intarsia, disco sequins, and fruited suede techniques reimagine the Mamma Baguette and Peekaboo Soft in luxurious yet tactile designs, while leopard water snake or mirror embroidery highlight the dazzling FENDI Baguette. For men, the new FENDI Lui Soft Zip Duffle and Cuoio Romano soft hobo bag feature the FF metal logo. Scattered throughout are FENDI Maxi Charm characters made from upcycled Fendi fabrics, combining artisanal craftsmanship with creative circularity.

In footwear, trompe l'oeil boots and peep-toe slippers in satin and eel feature slim wedges or hooked heels with subtle polished metal accents, while men's desert boots are crafted from wild shearling or soft lambskin.
