Sportswear and knitwear we reach for every day. Leather and denim worn and lived in over time. Precisely because these clothes are so familiar, we may have stopped questioning what they are—or how they are supposed to be worn.
With Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2027, titled HERE AND NOW, Miuccia Prada turns her attention back to this quotidian wardrobe of the present.

Sportswear, knitwear, leather, and vintage pieces are placed alongside tailored suits, chemisiers, and embroidered evening dresses. Rather than harmonizing clothes with different meanings, Prada deliberately brings them into confrontation. Through the resulting friction and tension, familiar garments are cultivated, heightened, and transformed into something else.
Sportswear and evening dresses. Utility and decoration. The everyday and the exceptional. By placing things that ordinarily belong to different contexts alongside one another, the meanings attached to each begin to shift.

Fragments of embroidery migrate onto sportswear-shaped pieces. Silk bows no longer function as part of a garment but appear alone against bare skin. Performance sportswear in jersey becomes abbreviated tops, layered either over or under other clothes.

This is not a mix designed to pull one side toward the other. Instead, different garments alter one another through proximity: sportswear acquires an unfamiliar expression, while elegant clothing gradually departs from established ideas of elegance. In the liminal space between the two, another possibility for dressing begins to emerge.
In HERE AND NOW, it is not only the relationships between clothes that are transformed. Materials and details are also manipulated to make the familiar visible from another angle.

Suede is layered with wax so that its surface cracks and ages, while creases are left intentionally. Evening satin and gauze are combined with metal, their crushed surfaces preserved and turned into decoration.

A recurring gesture throughout the season is crossed lacing. Replacing conventional fastenings, intersecting laces become both decorative and functional, allowing garments to shift on the body. The device travels across denim, pleated skirts, cocktail dresses, and shoes. Miu Miu SS27_Here and Now
Decoration and function, finished and unfinished—the boundaries between them, too, begin to blur.
Reusing what is familiar, reconsidering it, and placing it within a new context: this approach is embodied by WRANGLER® X MIU MIU, a collaboration with heritage denim label Wrangler.

For the latest Miu Miu Upcycled project, pieces from the past are carefully sourced around the world by vintage specialists, with Wrangler joining the process, before being deconstructed and reconstructed by Miu Miu. Among them is Wrangler’s iconic slim-legged “cowboy cut” jean, hand-customized with crossed lacing at the front—a detail that recurs throughout the Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

Since its founding in 1947, Wrangler has moved beyond its functional origins, shifting contexts from the American West to music, cinema, and fashion. To take those clothes apart once again and reconnect them to Miu Miu today echoes the very act of reconsideration at the heart of HERE AND NOW.
Rather than preserving clothes once worn by someone else as artifacts of the past, Miu Miu intervenes—and makes them clothes for now.
Another collaboration connecting past and present comes from New Balance and Miu Miu, now entering the fifth year of their partnership. This season, Miu Miu turns to the RC150, a racing sneaker introduced by New Balance in the late 1990s. Its name derives from its groundbreaking 150-gram lightweight construction, originally developed for performance road racing.

For the NEW BALANCE X MIU MIU RC150, the functional running shoe is deconstructed in malleable technical mesh. Contrast zigzag embroidery disrupts the upper, while interchangeable laces are threaded through external loops and loosely knotted at the toe, leaving room for the wearer to personalize the shoe.

The late 1990s mark not only the era in which the RC150 first appeared, but also the early years of Miu Miu, founded in 1993. Rather than faithfully reproducing a racing shoe from the past, the collaboration retains traces of its function and memory while transforming it into something to be worn now. Here again, HERE AND NOW looks backward only as a means of moving forward.
The runway also brought together figures from different creative fields, including Jamie Bell, Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Gigi Hadid, Katherine Waterston, and Liu Wen, alongside actors, models, dancers, musicians, and artists.

Yet the clothes remain the protagonists. Instead of searching only for what is new, Miu Miu looks again at what is already around us. Sportswear is placed beside eveningwear. Old denim is altered by new interventions. A sneaker once made for racing is transferred into another context. Even memories from Miu Miu’s own past are brought back as material through which to think about the present.
As clothes carrying different meanings collide, the boundary separating the ordinary from the extraordinary begins to erode.

Perhaps the question posed by HERE AND NOW is not simply what makes a garment new. It is about looking again, in the present, at the clothes we think we already know. Through that shift in perspective, how extraordinary can ordinary clothes become?
For Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2027, Miuccia Prada transforms not only the clothes themselves, but the way we look at them.

Finding the Space Between Everyday Dress and Elegance

To Dress the “Now,” Look Again at the Clothes We Already Know
