Calligrapher Sisyu's solo exhibition at Gucci Shinjuku. Collaborative works with teamLab to be shown for the first time.

Apr 12, 2013

Calligrapher Sisyu's "Water Drops, Human Steps" exhibition will be held from April 27th to May 19th in the Gucci Shinjuku event space on the third floor.

Sisyu is an artist who uses new technologies to express traditional Japanese calligraphy in three-dimensional and animated forms, imbuing characters with expression and emotion.

This exhibition features mobiles and gold folding screens created around the theme of Japanese thought confronting water. His new work, "Waterfall Heart" (takikokorozu), a collaboration with teamLab, is an interactive animation in which various characters with the character "heart" (kokoro) appear as people approach, then disappear as they are swept away by a video of a waterfall. It has received high praise both internationally and internationally. Most of the other works, including a large-scale work of dragons and calligraphy on two six-panel folding screens inspired by the image of Gucci, will be shown for the first time in this exhibition.
