Ricky Powell
Ricky Powell, a New York native, is a photographer renowned for his work on the rap and hip-hop music scene. Ricky began his career as a photographer in 1985, and his images of Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Method Man, Cyprus Hill, and others brought him widespread recognition.

While working as a vendor at a lemonade cart called Frozade, Ricky became friends with the Beastie Boys before they became popular. The Beastie Boys then toured with Run DMC, and Ricky's visit changed his life. The photos he took on the tour were so well-received that he was invited to accompany Run DMC on subsequent tours. He then began photographing performers for Def Jam, a record label specializing in hip hop and R&B.
