Sonia Rykiel will open a new store in Aoyama on April 25th. The address is 5-2-12 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
The store recreates the Sonia Rykiel boutique that hosted the 2015-16 Autumn/Winter collection. The design was created by the brand's Artistic Director Julie de Libran, along with Art Director Thomas Renthal and artist André Saraiva.
Reflecting the bohemian spirit of Paris's Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the store evokes the intimate and informal atmosphere of a literary café. The glossy red interior features floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with 50,000 volumes, and the floor is carpeted with André's artwork. Mirrors, which allow for authentic dialogue, represent the self-awareness and self-esteem that characterize the Rykiel woman.
Stores based on this concept will also be opened in Paris and London. To commemorate the opening, perfumer Daniela Andrier has created a fragrance. Using rose water, tangerine, vetiver, jasmine, and other ingredients, she has created a fresh, soapy scent that evokes youthful innocence.
In addition, the Aoyama store will be releasing a limited edition bright blue "DOMINO BAG" (175,000 yen), and will be selling a two-color T-shirt (32,000 yen) featuring Andrier's artwork as an all-over print in advance.
