Enjoy the 70s with pastel colors: Johan Koo's happy makeup

Apr 20, 2015

This series introduces spring/summer makeup tips from the SS15 runway. The seventh installment is from Tokyo Collection, featuring Johan Ku. The theme was "FREE PARTY," reflecting the hippie and free-spirited vibe of the 1970s. The key is making pastel colors appear to blend into the skin. Concealer was applied only to problem areas, highlighting the natural complexion. Pigments were mixed around the eyes to add color and a pearlescent sheen. A soft, natural-bristle brush was used for areas where color needed to blend, while a stiffer, more elastic brush was used for areas where color needed to be more intense. The cream color was applied with fingers, warmed from body heat, to create a natural, flushed look. This blush was also applied to the lips with fingers, blending with the natural lip color. The makeup artist was Rumiko Ikeda Harris, senior artist at M.A.C. The main items used include Pigment (Green Space, Pure White), #224 Tapered Blending Brush, #252 Large Shader Brush, and Casual Color (Relaxation, Weekend Getaway).
