Hermès' laboratory of ideas, the petit h collection, arrives in Japan

Apr 10, 2015

The "petit h" collection will be on display on the first floor of the Hermès Ginza store from April 29th through May 17th.

"petit h" is a collection of objects created through the collaboration of artists, designers, various materials, and the skills of Hermès' artisans. Launched in 2010 by Pascal Mussard, artistic director and sixth-generation member of the Hermès family, the collection has been a "laboratory of ideas," producing original and playful pieces.
The collection is usually exhibited at the Sèvres store in Paris, and this is its second tour to Japan. Items on display are available for purchase (some are also available online). Special objects created specifically for the Japanese exhibition will also be on display. Works by Paris-based artist Shinsuke Kawahara and product designer Shigeki Fujishiro will be featured. The exhibition space was designed by graphic designer Kazunari Hattori.

About the collection, Mussard says, "Petit H brings together the various materials that are dear to the Maison and explores new materials. By creating unique objects, we breathe life into the materials and give them new roles that are born from the meeting of good sense and creative thinking."
