The "Men's Nippon Takumi Exhibition," a collaboration between Isetan Men's and the men's magazine MEN'S EX, is being held at the store's main building's 7th floor event hall until April 13th. This fourth exhibition brings together some of Japan's leading tailors, including Osamu Nemoto of LID TAILOR. His made-to-measure suits (starting at ¥99,000 with delivery times starting from approximately four weeks) are described as "soft tailoring," featuring natural shoulders with minimal shoulder padding. Unlike the typically structured British style, these suits offer a rugged look while remaining lightweight and comfortable. This new model features a single-button, peaked lapel three-piece suit. The fabric is Hathersfield Fine Worsted linen, beloved by long-established Savile Row tailors. Full custom-made suits (¥370,000 with delivery times starting from approximately three months) are also available. Other tailors include Funabashi Yukihiko of Sartoria Ypsilon, Naoi Shigeaki of Shigeaki Naoi, Yamamoto Yuhei of TAILOR CAID, Sato Hideaki of HIDEAKI SATO, Arita Kazunari of TAILOR&CUTTER, Suzuki Ichiro of ICHIRO SUZUKI, Okamoto Yoshio of MIGLIORE, Yamaguchi Nobuto of Nobuto Yamaguchi, and Takashima Hiroaki of Isetan Men's.
FUJITAKA briefcases (from 200,000 yen / delivery time approximately 4 months), which are sewn using a post-stitching machine, highlight the craftsmanship that creates a uniquely Japanese sense of color. On April 11th and 12th, Yusuke Ito, who trained at Parisian shoe brand CORTHAY, will demonstrate his dyeing technique of layering colors onto tanned leather bags. Customers will also be able to order hand-painted custom colors to suit their tastes.
The bespoke shoes created by Shoji Kawaguchi of Marquess (priced at ¥346,000 with delivery time approximately one year) feature meticulous attention to detail, from the intricate eyelets to the delicate pinking, allowing visitors to truly experience the artisan's craftsmanship. Kawaguchi visited the UK in 2002 and was captivated by the antique bespoke shoes he saw at the Northampton Shoe Museum. Shoes by Keitaro Takano of CLEMATIS and Yohei Fukuda of Yohei Fukuda are also available.
In addition, a special corner will be set up at the venue where you can taste third wave coffee made by Japanese people, and you can also enjoy the flavors offered by ``coffee masters.'' Guests can enjoy the flavors of roasted beans and latte art carefully selected by some of Japan's most renowned artisans, including barista Takayuki Ishitani, who has made it to the finals as a freelancer in every Japan Barista Championship since his first appearance, barista Rieko Takeda, and Kiminori Sato of NOZY COFFEE.
Next to the coffee corner will be a temporary barbershop called Kitadoko, which also featured in Natsume Soseki's novel "I Am a Cat." Opened in 1871 in Hongo, Tokyo by Kitaro, the fourth son of the samurai Funakoshi family, it is the oldest barbershop in Japan. On April 11th and 12th, fifth-generation barber Chiyo Funakoshi will be offering a special course that includes a hair wash, cut, shaving, neck shave, and facial treatment (8,000 yen / advance reservation required / Isetan Shinjuku Men's Sports Sales Department Events Department 03-3352-1111).
During the event, customers (first 100 people) who make a purchase of over 20,000 yen at the venue will receive a special Men's EX cover featuring their own photo (taken at a special booth inside the venue).
