Principe Privé, a select shop offering fashion watches and unique customizations, is behind the "RUST" remake project, featuring elaborate rust-like paintwork inspired by the decay of objects. This time, they've released a model based on the classic adidas SUPERSTAR. Available now at the Principe Privé official online store.
This pair of shoes was created under the assumption that "what if sneakers were made of metal?" A silver base coat is applied to represent the aging of metal. The entire shoe is also coated and colored to recreate the three-dimensional texture of corroded metal. Parts have been scraped off, resulting in a shoe with meticulous attention to detail. Unlike regular rust, it is all rendered with paint (the three-dimensional parts are made with a special material containing acrylic), so there is no need to worry about stains getting on your clothes.
The adidas SUPERSTAR, which is the base of this product, was developed in 1969 as a basketball shoe and was so popular that at one point it was worn by the majority of NBA players. Later, the hip-hop group RUN-DMC started wearing them without laces, which sparked their popularity on the streets as well. Today, the variety and fan base are expanding, with collaborative models with artists such as Pharrell Williams and NIGO also appearing.
