The Mitsukoshi Rakugo Association was established in April 1953 with the goal of preserving and developing the traditional art of rakugo. Numerous rakugo artists, both veterans and young talents, have taken to the stage at the majestic and colorfully decorated Mitsukoshi Theater to deliver stellar performances. Over 600 performances have been held.


We want our customers to enjoy the rakugo at Mitsukoshi Theater while ensuring their safety and security. With that in mind, we have decided to hold the first-ever online rakugo event! You can enjoy the historic Mitsukoshi Rakugo Association from the comfort of your own home. We hope you will enjoy this new initiative to preserve the tradition of hall rakugo for future generations.


Mitsukoshi Rakugo Association Special Feature "Mitsukoshi Summer Night Online Variety Show" ~Congratulations on the Art Encouragement Prize~



"Mitsukoshi Summer Night Variety Show" is a special feature of the Mitsukoshi Rakugo Association that is well received every summer. This year's theme is "Congratulations on the Art Encouragement Prize." This is a special online variety show with all performers being Art Encouragement Prize winners.

Streaming period: 1pm Saturday, July 11th, 2020 – 11:55pm Sunday, July 19th
Ticket sales period: 10am Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 – 11pm Saturday, July 18th, 2020
Cast: Irifunetei Senyu/Edoya Koneko/Shunputei Itcho/Hayashiya Shouraku/Gokaido Unsuke (in order of appearance)
Viewing fee: 2,000 yen (tax included)
