■ "Yosemite in the Sixties" by Glenn Denny

Glenn Denny is a photographer and filmmaker born in California in 1939. Fascinated by climbing, he moved to "Camp 4" in Yosemite Valley at a young age in 1958, when the first ascent of El Capitan, the granite monolith in Yosemite National Park, was in the midst of. Inspired by this historic event, he began climbing the valley's most difficult routes.

He initially taught himself, photographing Yosemite's routes and climbers in the early 1960s, and later studied photography and filmmaking at San Francisco State University. The book "Yosemite in the Sixties" represents the culmination of these endeavors. Influenced by Ansel Adams, who previously photographed the same location, Denny masters the way light and shadows play on the rocks, skillfully capturing the casual expressions of climbers as they obsessed with their routes, enjoyed their camping, and paid homage to the special place that is Yosemite. These photographs, most of which are unpublished, convey the "Camp 4" culture of the time and the spirit of big-wall climbing.

The book also won multiple awards at the Banff Mountain Book Festival, a mountain festival attended by outdoor enthusiasts from around the world, as well as the National Outdoor Book Award, one of America's most prestigious literary awards.
