For parents who are constantly begging their kids to take them somewhere every holiday, here are some recommended spots for family outings. "Experience-based" exhibits are the trend these days, so there are fewer "educational" exhibits that are just one-way viewing. Instead, you'll get a lively experience through tactile and visually-rich exhibits. Of course, we've selected five spots that will satisfy the curiosity of adults, too!

The secrets of "Kinoko no Yama" and "Meiji Bulgaria Yogurt" revealed!? "Design Anatomy Exhibition" kicks off [Report]
"Design Anatomy Exhibition: A way to see the world through familiar objects," directed by graphic designer Taku Sato, is being held at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in Roppongi until January 22nd. The exhibition fully features Meiji products, dissecting products such as "Kinoko no Yama" and "Meiji Essel Super Cup" from a design perspective and thoroughly examining the origins of each product.


Sumida Aquarium x Ninagawa Mika: Experience a fantastical world as you pass through the "Jellyfish Kaleidoscope Tunnel"
Sumida Aquarium in Tokyo's Sumida Ward is running a "Jellyfish Collaboration Exhibition" in collaboration with photographer and film director Ninagawa Mika until March 14th. Video works by Ninagawa are projected onto the walls and eight jellyfish tanks, including the 50m-long "Jellyfish Kaleidoscope Tunnel," whose walls and ceiling are surrounded by approximately 5,000 mirrors, allowing visitors to experience the feeling of floating through a fantastical world inside the mirrors together with the jellyfish.

The "Marie Antoinette Exhibition Supervised by the Palace of Versailles: The Truth About the Queen of France Told Through Artworks" is being held at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills until February 26th. In addition to portraits, the exhibition will feature around 200 items planned and supervised by the Palace of Versailles, including tableware, lacquerware, furniture, clothing, and documents from the Revolutionary period that were favored by the queen.

The "It's a Sony Exhibition," a countdown event before the building's reconstruction, is being held at the Sony Building in Ginza, Tokyo, until March 31st. As the building will temporarily close for business on March 31st and construction work for reconstruction begins, the exhibition will introduce the 50-year history of the Sony Building and its future evolution along with past Sony products. Limited-edition rubber straps will be on sale as capsule toys during the event.


Akira Yamaguchi x Dogo Onsen: A stroll through the town beyond time and space at the art festival "Dogo Art 2016"
Dogo Onsen's art festival "Dogo Art 2016," which is working to spread new charms to the world, is being held until August 31st. This year's main artist is painter Akira Yamaguchi, and the highlight is his works that depict Dogo from an "outsider's" perspective. Other works that will be exhibited throughout the town of Dogo include three-dimensional works, works that incorporate architectural techniques, and installations.
