Emerging artist Chito Tanaka will be holding a two-person exhibition with Icelandic artist Thordis Adalsteinsdottir, "Stories of an Innocent World," from February 2nd to February 15th at Bunkamura Box Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Tanaka's work, with its distinctive touch, depicts an uncertain "something" in the light and darkness depicted through the striking contrast of black and white, and the scenes of life and death that lie beyond. Meanwhile, Adalsteinsdottir, born and raised in Iceland and based in New York and Scandinavia, focuses on anthropomorphic animals that blend into everyday life and humans, portrayed innocently yet eerily, as if their emotions and appearances are one and the same. Born and raised in completely different countries, the worlds they express capture moments purely and directly, evoking nostalgic memories in the viewer.
The exhibition will feature over 20 recent works by both artists, both of which will be on display and for sale. This exhibition will focus on the work of these two unparalleled artists, whose future success is highly anticipated.
