Kris Van Assche's Dior Homme presented its Summer 2018 collection at the Grand Palais in Paris on June 24th. Inspired by a student going out at night for the first time, the collection skillfully combined elements of everyday student wear with suits. Inspired by the '80s and '90s, countless cassette tapes were hung from the ceiling throughout the venue. Also, this season, in a nod to the atelier, the words "Christian Dior Atelier" and the brand's address, 3, rue de Marignan, were scattered across various pieces. Sweatshirts and blousons also featured prints of paintings by François Bart, the painter of young boys and flowers. The collection kicked off with a cinched-waist jacket and pants, inspired by Dior's iconic Bar jacket. Tops that combined a shirt and jacket, and pants with a jacket hem, seemed to symbolize a boyish youth not quite ready to become an adult.

The scarves in the shape of jacket sleeves were also interesting, and bold ideas were used in a variety of items this season. Sleeveless sweatshirts and blousons with graphics reminiscent of school emblems, and knit vests with Ivy League-style stripes, all exude a sense of freshness, and a youthful feel permeated the entire collection.
