Apply to the entire eye socket and spread with your fingers to create a gradation.
























Similarly, apply to the entire lower eyelid to create a circling eye, then layer the color again on both the upper and lower eyelids from the inner corner of the eye to the pupil to add light. Layering lighter colors will add dimension. It also has the effect of tightening your expression.

When you want to make your lips impactful, keep your eyes simple. Using eye color in a line will enhance your artsy vibe. "Apply eyeshadow across the double eyelid and pause at the outer corner of your eye. Before the eyeshadow dries, use a brush to flick the outer corner of your eye in a thin line," says Okada.

The punchy blue color is perfect for boldly incorporating it like an accessory. "Start drawing the line slightly closer to the outer corner than the center of the pupil. The key is to stop firmly at the outer corner of the eye to create a cut-off effect. Use a cotton swab to smooth out the end of the line so it doesn't look blurry," says Okada.

The sheer look created by blurring the turquoise gives it a romantic feel. "Apply eyeshadow to your upper eyelid and blend it halfway down your eyelid using your finger. Next, draw a line along your lash line, layering the color and blending it in. Creating a gradient creates a pure look," says Okada.

Apply eyeshadow along the lash line of your upper lash line, extending slightly beyond the outer corner of your eye. A slightly thicker lash line is fine. Apply an inside lash line along the lash line of your lower lash line, then blend any smudges with a brush for a natural look. This extra step creates a more sophisticated look.

Apply eye color from the inner corner of the lower eyelid to just below the pupil, blending naturally to create a playful, cat-like look. "Applying color to the lower eyelid shortens the distance from the eye to the mouth, making your face appear smaller. When using a bold lip color, be bold with this amount of color," says Okada.

A stylish twist on the classic feminine makeup color. Draw two lines on your eyelids, then blend and spread with your fingers. "Applying color just below the inner corner of your brow and leaving the area below the outer corner looking bare will create a cooler look," says Okada.

Apply and spread within the eyelid crease of the upper eyelid. Leave the area under the brows out. Repeat for the lower eyelid. First, blend the crease slightly wider, then apply a thin line again. Layering the color adds nuance to the lower eyelid, enhancing its modern look. Using a brush to lift your brows creates an edgier look.

If you're getting bored of your makeup routine, try this challenge. It has a feminine elegance, yet a slightly masculine vibe that's cool. "Draw a line of eyeshadow along the crease and blend upwards. Leave the inside of the eyelid and lower eyelid uncolored, leaving your skin natural," says Okada.

The clean white makeup that matches the Japanese modern red lipstick is also perfect for dressing up for a party. "After applying the color to the inner corner of your eye as a highlighter, apply an inner line to the lash line of your lower eyelid. Use a cotton swab to trim any excess," says Okada.
