Spotify has released its rankings for the world and Japan, looking back on the music scene in 2019. Post Malone, who recorded over 6.5 billion streams this year alone, was named the "Most Streamed Artist in the World" for 2019. His latest album, "Hollywood's Bleeding," also reached second place on the "Most Streamed Album in the World" list, just 12 weeks after its release.

2019 was a year in which female artists made notable achievements, with Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande ranking second and third, respectively, on the "Most Streamed Artist in the World" list. Among them, 17-year-old Billie Eilish recorded over 6 billion total streams this year, and her album "WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?" became the "most streamed album in the world." This marks the first time that an album by a female artist has become the most streamed album of the year on Spotify.
The "most streamed song in the world" was the popular summer anthem "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, which recorded over 1 billion streams. Following on from this ranking were Billie Eilish's "bad guy," Post Malone and Swae Lee's "Sunflower - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," Ariana Grande's "7 rings," and Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road – Remix." In Japan, Aimyon was named the "Most Streamed Artist in Japan," and Official Hige Dandism's "Pretender" was named the "Most Streamed Song in Japan." Meanwhile, ONE OK ROCK was named the "Most Streamed Japanese Artist Overseas" for the third consecutive year, and songs related to movies, anime, and games dominated the "Most Streamed Songs by Japanese Artists Overseas." 2019 was also a year of significant growth for podcasts. There are now over 500,000 podcasts available on Spotify, and the number of podcast listeners worldwide has increased by more than 50% year-over-year. Podcasts related to comedy, society and culture, true crime, news, and health are particularly popular.
In addition, for this year, the final year of the 2010s, Spotify also announced a ranking of the most-streamed artists worldwide over the past decade. Drake topped the list with over 28 billion total streams, followed by Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, and Eminem. Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You," with over 2.3 billion streams, was named the most-streamed song of the past decade.
