Balenciaga will pre-launch its new bag, the "Balenciaga Beach Bag," in stores in Japan on April 12th, before releasing it in May at select stores around the world and on balenciaga.com. The Balenciaga Beach Bag was inspired by the concept of carrying a sun hat upside down like a pouch. It continues Balenciaga's exploration of recontextualizing utilitarian items to meet other needs, whether by combining diverse garments, elevating everyday objects, or deconstructing their purpose.

Formed, sewn, and hemmed by a hat maker, the classic straw beach hat is transformed into a bag with two tubular leather handles attached with metal loops at each end and sliding leather cross straps. Smaller sizes also include a longer strap for cross-body wear. The transformation is completed with a logo-engraved leather label attached to the bottom of the bag (near the top of the hat).

The Balenciaga Beach Bag comes in mini, medium, and large sizes, with black or natural-colored straw and black leather details. Additionally, a Japan-exclusive colorway with white details will be available for pre-sale in select stores in Japan from April 28th.
