"Carton Stand Isetan," a pop-up event by artist Fuyuki Shimazu, who creates artworks using cardboard collected from around the world, will be held from October 2nd to 15th at the ART UP gallery space on the second floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building.


Shimazu is an artist who creates wallets using cardboard collected from around the world under the concept of "transforming unnecessary things into precious things" through his project "Carton." In 2018, a documentary film about his work, "Traveling Cardboard" (directed by Ryusuke Okajima, distributed by Pictures Dept.), was released. In addition, he has published the essay "Cardboard is a Treasure: Accidental Upcycling" (Kashiwa Shobo), and has engaged in various activities to convey the appeal of cardboard, including workshops around the world. Currently, in addition to exhibitions and workshops both in Japan and overseas, the brand is also holding collaborative workshops with The North Face and Nike.

In addition to the traditional cardboard wallets, this event will also feature a sacoche bag, which will be unveiled for the first time exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku. Additionally, Shimazu will be present at the event on weekends, October 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, to host workshops where you can make your own cardboard wallet of your choice. The participation fee is 7,000 yen, and the event will take approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Reservations are not required, but the number of participants is limited.
