Isetan Shinjuku Men's Store will be hosting art events and pop-ups by popular brands from August 21st! This summer has been extremely hot. Why not get a head start on autumn's art and fashion in the cool indoors?

Here's a roundup of information on notable events where you can "encounter art" at Isetan Men's.


The theme is "color."
Artist Mayumi Yamase's exhibition "colors"


Mayumi Yamase has worked on campaign visuals for MAN/WOMAN at Paris Fashion Week, created art for COMME des GARÇONS, and held her solo exhibition "HOW OBJECTS SPREAD" at No.12 Gallery in May. She also engages in a variety of activities, including working as an editor and writer for culture and fashion magazines. This exhibition is themed around "color," and will feature paintings in the three tones of blue, green, and orange, as well as soft sculptures, on display and for sale.

For artist Yamase, "color" is one of the important elements that shape his work. It also symbolizes and expresses elements that the artist is interested in that cannot be visualized in everyday life, such as the cells that are constantly moving within the body and the emotions that are stimulated by them. "GENERATIVE URBAN SHINJUKU T-SHIRT" (¥14,000)
In addition to the release of the new Fall/Winter 2019 collection, the MINOTAUR INST. pop-up will also feature the "GENERATIVE URBAN SHINJUKU T-SHIRT" (¥14,000) and "GENERATIVE URBAN SHINJUKU HOODIE" (¥26,000), exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku, from the "Urban Design Generator" series, which reconstructs graphics by incorporating elements of urban design codes into fashion designs. The Generative Urban series extracts design codes hidden in planned cities, such as subways, traffic signs, and other elements, and reconstructs them as graphics. The Fall/Winter 2019 collection is inspired by the schematic layout diagrams used in the London Underground route map, the world's first infographic, invented by British draftsman Harry Beck in 1931. Another motif is the "alternative city" constructed through the perspectives of people on social media, with the graphic base composed of countless photos posted on Instagram with the hashtag "#Shinjuku." A special video installation will also be exhibited at the venue.
