To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of the film "It's Tough Being a Man" and the release of a new film, a Tora-san exhibition, "Everyone's Tora-san Exhibition: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the 'It's Tough Being a Man' Film," will be held from August 7th to 19th at the event venue on the 7th floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store.

The "It's Tough Being a Man" series is a nationally renowned Japanese film that continues to be loved today, spanning half a century from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras. This exhibition brings to life the scenes of laughter and tears at a traditional dumpling shop in the quaint downtown neighborhood, featuring familiar characters like Uncle, Auntie, Sakura, and the Octopus Boss, along with the clumsy yet good-natured Tora-san, through film sets, props, footage, and a variety of valuable materials. Looking back 50 years since the first film's release, the exhibition will feature rare costumes and scripts used in filming, treasured documents from the production, and a recreation of the filming set. It will also feature a section showcasing memorable scenes featuring the Madonnas who have shining brightly in Japanese film history. Many of Tora-san's famous lines, such as "Go with the flow, go wherever your heart takes you. I think as I walk," will also be introduced. At a special photo spot, visitors can choose their favorite quote from a speech bubble board featuring Tora-san's famous line and take a commemorative photo with him. Additionally, props used in the filming of the latest film, "It's Tough Being a Man: Welcome Back, Tora-san," due for release on December 27, will also be on display for the first time. You can enjoy the latest world of "Tora-san" early.
A large number of original exhibition goods and Tora-san character goods will be on sale at the venue. There will also be a wide selection of Tora-san items designed by "goen°", a design group run by Morimoto Chie.
Just like returning to a nostalgic hometown, why not relax and enjoy the world of Tora-san at your own pace?
