Italian costume designer Milena Canonero won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Wesley Anderson's film, "The Grand Budapest Hotel." The costumes worn by the film's main cast were created by Milena Canonero in collaboration with Fendi. Pieces from the brand's fur workshops help to subtly recreate the atmosphere of the late 1920s, the setting of the film. Edward Norton's "Inspector Henkel" wears a military-style coat crafted from oversized gray astrakhamun fur, while Tilda Swinton's "Madame D." wears a luxurious cape made from Italian silk and black mink. Fendi also designed the capes and fur stoles worn by the main female cast.
Regarding this year's Academy Award win, the brand's chairman and CEO, Pietro Beccari, said, "It is with great pride that we have created Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton's memorable fur costumes. This ultimate collaboration with costume designer Milena reaffirms the close, passion-driven dialogue between Fendi and cinema."
