The second branch of CAFE AALTO, a cafe located in the Academia Bookstore in Helsinki, Finland, one of the world-renowned architect Alvar Aalto's most famous buildings, will open in the Kawaramachi area of central Kyoto in December.

Even 50 years after its 1969 opening, CAFE AALTO still retains the same interior design as when it first opened, featuring Aalto's signature pendant lamp (Golden Bell), marble tables, and chairs designed by Aalto specifically for the cafe, made of black leather and brass frames, which can only be found here.

The simple yet timelessly designed furniture and space make this a popular cafe, attracting visitors from all over the world, including locals, who can experience Aalto's worldview and savor the Finnish atmosphere.

The newly opened Kyoto store is the second location after the Helsinki store. The menu features Finnish-style breakfasts and traditional Finnish dishes and sweets such as salmon soup, cheesecake-based blueberry pie, and cinnamon rolls. The store also offers coffee and alcohol selected by owner Marco Saracino, allowing customers to enjoy an authentic Finnish menu.

In addition, ahead of the Kyoto store opening, Spiral in Aoyama, Tokyo, is offering a special "Café Aalto" menu for a limited time until June 30th, during the solo exhibition "Fujio Ishimoto Exhibition - From Marimekko Flowers to Ceramic Fruits" by Helsinki-based Japanese textile designer and ceramic artist Fujio Ishimoto.

The three types of menu items offered are "Salmon Soup" (1,420 yen including tax, available from 3pm on weekdays and from 11am on Saturdays and Sundays), "Cinnamon Roll" (1,370 yen including tax, drink included), and "Blueberry Pie" (1,370 yen including tax, drink included).
