Sweet and hearty thick omelet served on rice [rice accompaniment]

May 5, 2019
Our "rice accompaniment" recommendation project was born from our editors' dream of patrolling the basement of a department store (the food floor) with a bowl of soft, glossy rice and chopsticks in hand!

In this third installment, we'll be introducing the "thick omelet" we found at Tsukiji Miyagawa Honten, located on the first basement floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku.

Tsukiji Miyagawa Honten is known as a long-established eel restaurant, having opened in 1893. In fact, their "thick omelet" (800 yen) is also excellent. This thick omelet is crispy and cooked to a firm consistency, seasoned with a sweet Edo-style flavor. The soft sweetness spreads throughout your mouth with each bite.

The sheer volume, so large it overflows the bowl, is also a delight.
