The PASS THE BATON GALLERY inside the PASS THE BATON Omotesando store will be holding an event in collaboration with Jinbo Pearl Shop called "The Origin of BIWAKO REAL PEARLS" from April 30th to May 19th.

Jinbo Pearl Shop was founded 53 years ago in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture as a store dealing in "Lake Biwa pearls." It takes three years to cultivate the oysters and another three years or more for the pearls to form. "Lake Biwa pearls" are made with a thicker layer than regular pearls, making them less susceptible to deterioration over time. Furthermore, no two pearls are the same, and as time passes, they emit a softer luster, giving them a unique character not found in other pearls.

This event will feature "PASS THE BATON Vintage Pearls," an original design accessory made from pure white "Lake Biwa pearls" known as "vintage pearls," which were harvested from the sea about 40 years ago and have been sleeping as dead stock with producers around Lake Biwa. "PASS THE BATON Vintage BIWAKO REAL PEARLS Accessories" will be on display and for sale.
"PASS THE BATON Vintage BIWAKO REAL PEARLS Accessories" was designed by "PROOF OF GUILD," a bespoke jewelry and flower shop, and features seven types of earrings (from 33,000 yen) and double rings (from 39,000 yen) made from vintage pearls cut into three-dimensional silver parts in the shape of seven different constellations. Also noteworthy are the collages created by "manami miyamoto" inspired by each of the constellations.

In addition to the original design accessories on display and for sale, a precious collection of "Lake Biwa pearl" accessories that have been passed down through the years and filled with the memories of their owners will also be on display (some for sale) along with the stories of their owners. This will allow visitors to experience the beauty of "Lake Biwa pearls," which never fades over time.
