Girls Don't Cry and Amazon Fashion pop-up collaboration unveiled in Harajuku

Event Date:2019.04.20-04.21
Apr 19, 2019
Girls Don't Cry, designed by VERDY, a graphic designer who enjoys overwhelming support in the street fashion scene, has collaborated with Amazon Fashion to create special items for "Girls Don't Cry Amazon Fashion "AT TOKYO", which will be on sale for a limited time from April 22nd to May 7th. Prior to this, a pop-up event will be held in Harajuku on April 20th and 21st. A press preview was held the day before.

Amazon Fashion "AT TOKYO" launched in March 2017 as a special program for Tokyo Fashion Week. Up until now, it has featured runway shows and installations by Tokyo's leading brands, and has sold special items. However, this latest program focuses on Tokyo's leading "streets." A specially designed cafe and photo space have been set up in the former Starbucks Coffee Omotesando B-SIDE store, which was located beside Cat Street in Harajuku. Items that will be on sale from the 22nd will be on display, and the pop-up shop will sell black T-shirts, tote bags, bandanas, key chains, and mugs.

"I am honoured to be able to take part in the “AT TOKYO” program, which was attended by Tokyo designers whom I respect. This is my first time showing my work in such a large space, and I am thrilled that people all over Japan will be able to purchase my products, which are usually only available at pop-ups, through Amazon online." The cafe also stocks items that Mr. Ogawa purchased on Amazon, such as a collection of Basquiat's works and a photo book of Glenn Friedman.

Amazon Japan Vice President James Peters also commented, "Our role is to allow Mr. Verdi to freely express what he wants to express. We are pleased that this pop-up will allow us to get closer to our customers."
