"THERE IS NO WRONG," a three-day customization-themed art event by Levi's (LEVI'S®) in collaboration with Brooklyn-based design group LQQK STUDIO, kicked off on April 6th at The Mass Gallery in Harajuku.

During the event, the gallery will serve as a satellite studio where artisans and artists from the studio will create one-of-a-kind Levi's items, including denim jackets, 501®, 502®, 511®, sweatshirts, shirts, and T-shirts. All items are one-of-a-kind and will be sold in the attached gift shop.

For this event, silkscreen printing machines, plate making machines, embroidery machines, vacuum tube amplifiers, speakers and other DJ equipment were brought in from New York to hold workshops. Works by 27 contemporary artists curated by Joe Garvey, who organized the event, are also on display. Also on display from the archives at Levi's San Francisco headquarters are customized jeans by Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, and Keith Haring, prison pants made by an inmate using ballpoint pen and markers over the course of 30 years in prison, and a punk vest.

Levi's holds a campaign every April and May to commemorate 501®DAY, May 20, 1987, the day blue jeans were invented. This year's theme is "We are all collaborators," and participants are invited to create their own unique denim. This year's event will also see no construction contractors, and at the reception on April 5th, the eight artists who came to Japan specifically for the event were shown setting up the venue themselves. "Customization" will continue at the venue throughout the event.

In addition, after the exhibition ends on April 9th, one-off products created during the event will be sold at a pop-up space at TRUNK HOTEL in Shibuya.
