"Baru Baru Shimokitazawa Meat and Bar Hopping: Minna Nomi Tomodachi" is a food and drink event where you can find your favorite restaurants and drinking buddies in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, and it will be held from April 25th to May 6th.
This is a town-wide gourmet event where you can go bar-hopping at Shimokitazawa's deepest restaurants. Over 20,000 people have participated to date, and this year, the eighth time it is held, you can enjoy bar-hopping at 68 restaurants along with limited-edition menus themed around "meat dishes."
Participating restaurants are not just meat specialists; they are also offering elaborate limited-time menus from a variety of restaurants, including a Turkish restaurant offering "Beef Turner Grilled Kebab," a Chinese izakaya restaurant offering "Red Braised Pork Knife (Skin-on Braised Pork)," a sea urchin restaurant offering "A5 Wagyu Beef and Sea Urchin Nigiri," and a smoked meat bar offering "Five Kinds of Smoked Meat Platter."
By presenting their wristband (participation certificate), participants can choose to order either a set of a limited-time menu and first drink for 1,000 yen (without appetizer or table charge), or a first drink for 400 yen, allowing them to enjoy a great deal on bar hopping.
The event will also feature a "Drinking Buddies Stamp Rally" using the smartphone app "I LOVE Shimokitazawa App." By scanning the QR codes of participants and store staff, participants can collect stamps, and depending on the number of stamps collected, they can be entered into a lottery to win luxurious prizes. In addition, during the event, there will also be a points redemption campaign for "Shimokita Coin," a digital local currency that was launched in the Shimokitazawa area in September 2018.
