MUJI's first "MUJI HOTEL" in Japan finally opens! A report on the nine types of rooms that will help you heal your body and mind

Apr 2, 2019
MUJI will open its first MUJI HOTEL GINZA in Japan and its global flagship store, MUJI GINZA, which will also feature the restaurant MUJI Diner, on April 4, 2019.

Based on the concept of "anti-gorgeous, anti-cheap," MUJI HOTEL offers a good night's sleep at just the right price, a space to revitalize body and mind while traveling, and services that connect guests with the local area. MUJI HOTEL GINZA, which will open simultaneously on the upper floors of the global flagship store, will be the third location in China, following Shenzhen and Beijing. The reception will be located on the sixth floor, and floors seven through ten will offer 79 guest rooms in nine types.

The hotel will be planned, designed by UDS, the company behind CLASKA and HOTEL ANTEROOM KYOTO, with concept and interior design supervision provided by Ryohin Keikaku. The interior will focus on natural materials such as wood, stone and earth, while the common areas will incorporate textures created by time, such as paving stones from a tram that ran in Tokyo 50 years ago and salvaged ship materials. Services such as guided tours of Ginza led by hotel staff and running wear rentals will also be available.

The 6th Floor Connects the Shops and Hotel

In addition to the front desk, the 6th floor houses "ATELIER MUJI GINZA," a comprehensive hub for design culture, and restaurant "WA."

"ATELIER MUJI GINZA" features a "Library" with a selection of design and art-related books, two "Galleries" hosting exhibitions on various themes related to craftsmanship and design, a "Salon" where people can gather and chat over delicious coffee and alcohol, and a "Lounge" where talk events and workshops are held. Each floor will communicate MUJI's vision for the future. The "Salon" will be open until 10:00 a.m. to allow guests and local residents to relax and unwind.

The restaurant "WA" offers "tastes of home" from all over Japan, changing the region every three months to bring you the rich Japanese climate through food. The first region is "Oita." Even at the restaurant, you can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel like you're back home.
