The Bridgestone Museum of Art in Kyobashi, Tokyo, which had been closed since May 2015, changed its name to the Artizon Museum on July 1st. The Bridgestone Building, which previously housed the former Bridgestone Museum of Art, underwent reconstruction work starting in June 2016 and was completed on July 5th as the Museum Tower Kyobashi. The Artizon Museum is scheduled to open in January 2020.

Since its opening in January 1952, the Bridgestone Museum of Art has provided an opportunity to encounter masterpieces from both the East and the West for over 60 years. The word "artizon" in the new "Artizon Museum" is a combination of "art" and "horizon." Based on the new concept of "experiencing creativity," the museum will be reborn as a place where visitors can enjoy antique art, modern Japanese Western-style painting, Impressionism, 20th-century art, and contemporary art.

The Artizon Museum is scheduled to open in January 2020, located on the lower floors of Museum Tower Kyobashi. The entrance will move from its previous location along Yaesu Street to Ginza Chuo Street. The exhibition rooms will also be expanded to approximately double their previous exhibition space, making it possible to simultaneously hold large-scale special exhibitions and collection exhibitions, which were not possible at the old museum.
