DEAN & DELUCA and Soupstock CEO discuss "The Theory of Correlation between Business and Art"

May 11, 2015

A business seminar from an artistic perspective, "The Theory of the Correlation Between Business and Art," will be held at the IMA CONCEPT STORE in Roppongi. The first seminar will be held on May 12th, followed by the second on May 19th. Businesspeople with expertise in both fashion and art will discuss the correlation between business and art. The first guest will be Masaki Yokokawa, CEO of Welcome, which operates lifestyle shops such as George's and CIBONE. In 2003, Masaki Yokokawa founded DEAN & DELUCA JAPAN, which offers food from around the world. He subsequently opened SOUVENIR FROM TOKYO, a museum shop at the National Art Center, Tokyo, and HOUSE, a neo-bistro in Nishi-Azabu. In the first half of this seminar, he will look back on the process of his HOUSE business, from its launch to the present, with visuals. In the second half, he will talk about the landscape he sees today and the sensibilities he wants to share. The second guest is Masamichi Toyama, CEO of Smiles, the soup specialty store chain Soup Stock Tokyo, and author of books such as "I Decided to Succeed" and "A Business Model for Doing What You Want - The Journey of PASS THE BATON." During the seminar, he will discuss how he got to his current position and the visual image strategies he has used in the businesses he has worked on. He will also share the thoughts behind the works he will be exhibiting at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, an international art exhibition the company will be participating in.
