Looks from the Spring/Summer 2019 Collection

Soduk, a women's brand launched in the Fall/Winter 2018 season by Tsukasa Kudo, designer of the men's brand "Kudos." Designer Kudo was born in 1987. After graduating from Waseda University, he went on to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp before dropping out. He gained experience as a design assistant and pattern assistant at renowned brands such as Jacquemus, J.W. Anderson, and Y/Project, before launching the men's brand Kudos in 2017. Later, in response to requests from female Kudos fans, he launched the women's brand Suduk. The brand name "soduk" comes from the letters "kudos" arranged backwards, and Suduk (women's) is positioned as a kind of "mirror" of Kudos (men's).

Kudo is reticent about the brand, projecting a realistic yet somewhat dreamlike image.

At first glance, the collection appears to be simple, real clothes. However, upon closer inspection, each piece reveals intriguing details. There are holes in unexpected places, bold cutouts, and even shirts that at first glance seem standard, with innovative combinations of button and buttonhole placement.

When picking up a Sudoku garment, the first thing to do is to ask yourself, "How would I wear this design?" This is perhaps similar to the feeling of reminiscing about a vintage garment that has traveled time from a faraway land to your very own home.

Although the brand promotes seasonal looks, it does not have any specific suggestions for how to wear items or recommended coordinations for each season, which gives Sudoku's clothes a sense of freedom. From the moment you get your hands on the clothes, you can enjoy wearing them in a variety of ways and making them your own.

The clothes proposed are witty and will pleasantly defy expectations, with an edge that is more than just playful, and a bit different from humor. They could truly be called clothes for the independent Tokyo girl living in the modern age.

The theme of the second season, the 2019 Spring/Summer collection, is "0002 collection "dance with me."

The collection was created with the way fabric moves when a person moves in mind, and by considering how clothes would move when a person moves. The image of a woman standing firmly on her ground and with dignity in the light spring breeze, while exuding a sense of extraordinary transience, is striking.

Sudoku's 2019 Spring/Summer collection is available at the brand's official online store, as well as select shops such as DELTA in Yoyogi-Uehara, Tokyo, and grapevine by k3 in Aoyama, Tokyo. Be sure to check it out.
