I was drawn to Eika Yoshinari and discovered his visual images, which exuded a mood that made me feel like something was about to begin.
Designer Rika Yoshinari built her career at an apparel manufacturer and founded the brand while pursuing her own idea of femininity.
The brand's first season, Spring/Summer 2019 collection, is themed around "Nature Poetry," and expresses an airy and supple femininity through the use of natural materials such as silk, cotton, and linen, as well as piece-dyed botanical dyes, that bring to mind the unrestrained colors and decorativeness of flowers and plants, the understated luster, and the dry texture of the earth.
"This season, I was inspired by Art Nouveau architecture, which I have always been interested in, and the glassworks of Emile Gallé. I feel that Gallé's crafts have a delicate and dainty beauty that is not excessive," said designer Yoshinari.
The brand's core item is the dress. The designer herself is particular about how she wears them, so we asked her for her favorite outfit. 」
"The dresses are basically designed with an eye to the neckline and silhouette so that they look beautiful when worn alone. Therefore, the type of shoes you pair them with will greatly change the overall look of your outfit. This season, we're using a lot of natural materials overall, so I personally think that pairing them with shoes that have a slightly masculine element, such as mid-length boots or square-toe shoes, would look great. I'd like to pair them with python boots, for example."
