This exhibition focuses on new trends in wood design and architectural spaces by a new generation of architects and designers gaining attention in Southeast Asia, providing a bird's-eye view through architecture, furniture design, and research.

Southeast Asia is home to not only high-quality woods such as rosewood, ebony, teak, and mahogany, but also plant materials such as bamboo and rattan. Thanks to the accumulated know-how shared among local residents over the years, the region is rich in a wide variety of wooden architecture. This exhibition introduces a collection of buildings that have been developed traditionally or customarily, categorized as slow technology, while also focusing on "materials and techniques that cannot be scientifically reproduced," revealing hidden systems.

Materials themselves change gradually over time and with the flow of the environment. Originally, raw materials derived from nature are processed and incorporated into daily life as products made from "indigenous materials." Even completed products have the potential to be reconstructed and reused as "recycled materials." When unexpected disasters occur, people try to utilize their own wisdom through "emergency responses" using traditional materials and techniques. The venue will feature three thematic sections on how these materials are utilized in Southeast Asia: "Vernacular / Conventional" (Regional and Indigenous Materials), "Recycled Materials" (Potential of Recycled Materials), and "Emergency Response" (Architecture for Emergency Response). The exhibition will also showcase the results of research and field surveys conducted in the region, as well as prospects for resilient building technologies with an eye to the future.
