The first commemorative event, "Spotify New Music Place - Girls Tea Party with BENI," was held at TRUNK HOTEL on December 20th, and featured guest BENI, who released her album "CINEMATIC" at the end of November. It was an exclusive party limited to 30 female fans.

Cute sweets and drinks were prepared at the venue, and while listening to the songs from "CINEMATIC" together with BENI, they had a girl talk where they shared behind-the-scenes stories about the production, anecdotes about the photos posted on Instagram, and even answered questions from fans. FASHION HEADLINE reports on the behind-the-scenes stories BENI shared during her talk!
Why not listen to "CINEMATIC" on Spotify and immerse yourself in the emotions BENI conveys in the lyrics?
BENI's introduction to her album "CINEMATIC"
■"CINEMATIC"
BENI: Since it's the title track, I included lyrics that evoke cinematic images so you can get a feel for the album's worldview. I imagine listening to it while driving through the city and enjoying the beautiful scenery. 」。 English: ■ "MONEY" BENI: I thought that the little stresses that girls experience on a daily basis are all related to "MONEY". When you go abroad, you want to dress up, but you're afraid of spending too much and getting a credit card bill... I wrote this song from a real scene like that. I had fun singing it while imagining a scene from a movie with banknotes flying around. ■ "Chasin'" BENI: I was originally friends with the rapper IO, and his sound is so cool that I wanted to make a track with him. As we talked about various things in the studio, the scenario (for the song) gradually came together. I think that the happiest moment in love is when you're chasing it and it's just about to reach your hand. Once you have it, you're afraid of losing it, but when you're chasing it and becoming blinded, it's when you can see the answer closest, so we decided that we're always "chase" and have "chasin' disease" (laughs).
■"S.U.K.I"
BENI: When you're drunk, you get carried away and accidentally say too much, or say something that you're too embarrassed to actually say...I wrote this song about the embarrassing feelings you get when you suddenly remember it the next day.
■"Got A Feeling"
BENI: This song has a cute 'tsururururu' intro. I wrote this song about those times when you just feel your heart flutter.
■"CRY"
BENI: When I saw my best friend crying, I felt so much love for her. She tried desperately to stop her tears, but I thought, "Cry more!" I want her to cry and use that as a step towards the next step... This song is dedicated to my best friend.
■"Arigato"
BENI: A song of gratitude. I wanted to write a straightforward song that would reach straight into your heart. "Thank you" is a word that everyone, from children to the elderly, uses without fail. I put my heart and soul into this song with the hope that I will continue to use the word "thank you" a lot in the future.
■"PULLBACK"
BENI: A song that expresses my own weaknesses and the conflict of feeling like I have to do something a certain way. I'm sure there are many women who have felt this way. That I know I should be a certain way, but my feelings just can't keep up. I feel like I'm writing about my own floating heart. I guess that's the mood I'm in right now.
■"CANDY"
BENI: I likened the feeling of eating sweets even though I know it's wrong to love. It's a funny song about not being able to stop eating delicious candy.
■"No one else like you"
BENI: I co-wrote this with Michael Kaneko, and it's a song about making up. I met him for the first time at a friend's birthday party, and by chance we ended up doing a jam session on an Ed Sheeran number together. We sang together and found that we got along really well, so I asked him to sing on this album. We finished the song in about an hour after he came to the studio.
■"Last Love Letter"
We had a cinematic concept, so I wanted to make it an even more dramatic love song. The sound is simple, and the song resonates and speaks to the heart.
■"READY25"
This is the entrance song for Yokohama DeNA BayStars player Tsutsugo Yoshitomo, and it's an exciting song. I wrote it imagining the stadium.
Furthermore, during the acoustic live performance, she performed three songs from the album: "Got a feeling," "S.U.K.I," and "Last Love Letter." Some women were so moved by her breathing and live singing voice, which could be heard even without a microphone, that they were moved to tears. The party concluded with a commemorative photo session with fans surrounding BENI.
