For Spring/Summer 2023, Stella McCartney and Yoshitomo Nara reunite. Their successful collaboration, first launched two years ago, continues today with a unisex capsule collection featuring rare works by the iconic Japanese painter and sculptor. Drawing on the provocative, vibrant and rebellious nature of Nara's work, the Yoshitomo Nara x Stella McCartney wardrobe raises critical issues of our time, while uniting the next generation of changemakers around shared values: activism, aesthetics and a love of animals. The visuals feature four next-generation figures wearing the collection: Aoi Yamada, who has previously worked with Stella McCartney on various projects, as well as Marika Ito, Ruchia Karikome, and Kojiro Asai. This collaboration will not be limited to a capsule collection; it will also be rolled out in the Summer 2023 collection and the Stella McCartney Kids collection in early 2023.

Kojiro AsaiThe fashion and playful imagery of the collection act as communicators, inspiring thought, dialogue and action on the challenges of our time. Stella McCartney's iconic wardrobe features iconic pieces selected by the artist herself. Nara's mischievous children, creatures and countercultural slogans enhance the free-spirited, punk mood that permeates the collection. Yoshitomo Nara says: "Stella McCartney is a strong-willed, determined person. In our last collaboration, Stella chose pieces and gave them free rein to incorporate them into her designs. This time, I chose pieces and gave them free rein." Nara, who connects art, subculture, and street culture, focuses on the rebellious spirit, free thinking, and individuality that are at the core of his spirit, gracefully portraying the style of rebellious youth. For Spring/Summer 2021, he collaborated with Stella McCartney, breaking down the boundaries between luxury and art. This marks his first collaboration with a fashion brand. This season's capsule collection features rare, collectible pieces, including ready-to-wear and vegan accessories, elevated with luxurious textiles and techniques, reuniting Nara's vision with Stella's values. The collection features avant-garde, sustainable luxury pieces featuring Nara's work, including organic cotton jersey t-shirts, fleece-lined hoodies and sweatpants, images of piercing-eyed girls and children dressed as animals, and anti-war messages like "STOP THE BOMBS," all in a neutral color palette. Plant-based poplin shirts, classic-wash wide-leg denim, silk pajama sets, and a graphic double-face bomber jacket with sleeves crafted from vegan leather, Alter Mat, are also featured in the same color palette. Knitwear includes crew neck jumpers and cardigans featuring mischievous animals.

Love for animals is expressed through the iconic Elyse platform shoe, recyclable Loop sneakers, Gaia espadrille sandals and Fur-Free Fur pool slides, all made cruelty-free. In addition, all accessories, including canvas bucket hats and caps, and tote bags with a Japan-exclusive design, are made from organic cotton and recycled materials.

The second collaboration with Yoshitomo Nara, the Yoshitomo Nara x Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2023 Shared Capsule Collection, will be available at the Stella McCartney Aoyama flagship store on December 2, 2022. To celebrate the launch of the collection, a Japan-exclusive bag featuring Nara's work "Mission" will also be available.
