IKEA will hold a pre-launch event, "STILL LOADING," for its new collection "MARKERAD," a collaboration with Virgil Abloh, scheduled for release in November 2019, in Japan on December 15th.

Like the "STILL LOADING" event held in Paris on September 29th prior to the Japanese launch, this event will also feature an advance unveiling and pre-sale of four rugs from the collaboration between IKEA and Virgil Abloh. These four rugs are limited edition items that will not be included in the new collection scheduled for release in November 2019, and a total of 100 will be available for pre-sale. In addition, to coincide with the campaign, designer Virgil Abloh will visit Japan and hold a talk show with IKEA creative leader Henrik Moss to discuss the behind-the-scenes story of the collection's development. The pre-sale and talk show are exclusive to IKEA FAMILY members. Those who register in advance on the IKEA official website (https://secure.family.ikea.jp/pc/semlist.php) will be entered into a lottery to participate. The limited-edition collection features items aimed at millennials, combining practicality with a design that satisfies emotional needs. Designer Virgil Abloh said, "I'm really excited for people to get a sneak peek at the rugs. Not only are these rugs functional items for the home, but given the limited production run and the concepts behind each one, I think they can also be pieces of art to hang on the wall." The general release begins the following day, December 16th, at 8:00 AM (9:00 AM in Sendai). Lottery tickets will be distributed, and only winners will be able to purchase.
