Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, we will introduce books selected by Shelf, a Harajuku bookstore (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which specializes in foreign books.



■ "One Eye" by Nobuyoshi Araki

This book features 50 black-and-white photographs taken by Nobuyoshi Araki from the five years since he lost the sight in his right eye to the present.

These photographs, all shot vertically on 35mm black-and-white film, include many of the personal objects that surround Araki's own daily life, such as female nudes, wilted flowers, strange dolls and toys, as well as street scenes, views from car windows, and sky and exterior views photographed from the balcony of his home, which have also been major motifs in Araki's previous works.






An exhibition of the same name is currently being held at Rat Hole Gallery in Aoyama.
