Hobonichi's "The Joys of Life" exhibition will be held in Kansai for the first time! Many stores will be appearing only in Kansai.

Event Date:2018.09.19-09.24
Sep 4, 2018
Hobonichi is collaborating with various companies and brands to create the "Joys of Life" traveling exhibition, which will be held for the first time in the Kansai region from September 19th to 24th at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store. Approximately 40 stores and special events will be featured.

The "Joys of Life" exhibition is a shopping-focused event created by Hobonichi in collaboration with various artists, connoisseurs, brands, shops, and companies, with the aim of creating a "special shopping street for a limited time." Launched in March 2017, the exhibition has changed in scale and location, with the "3rd Joys of Life" exhibition being held in Ebisu, Tokyo, in early summer 2018. This event will be held as a traveling exhibition of that event.

"Hobonichi Techo 2019"
A Hobonichi Techo store will be open at the venue. The spacious store will offer early releases of the Hobonichi Techo plans for October and November, as well as limited-edition products and the entire lineup of the 2019 Hobonichi Techo, which will go on sale sequentially from September 1st, as well as special items. Of particular note are the pre-sales of the "Doraemon" Hobonichi Techo, the "Hobonichi 5-Year Techo" and "Big Hobonichi 5-Year Techo," which will be released on October 1st, and the Hobonichi Techo featuring Shigesato Itoi's beloved dog, Bouillon, which will be released on November 1st. Also on display will be nearly every type of custom-edition Hobonichi Techo "weeks" that are not available on the Hobonichi Techo official website, created in response to requests from brands, companies, and artists such as "Space Brothers," "Mirai no Mirai," and Maaya Sakamoto. A special "weeks" Hobonichi Techo with a "Hankyu Department Store design," created in conjunction with this event, will also be on display. Additionally, a reasonably priced "Beginning Bag" will be available for first-time Hobonichi Techo users, featuring archive covers such as those by Taro Okamoto.

Everyday items selected by "LABOUR AND WAIT"
Although the title is a traveling exhibition, this is the first time the exhibition is being held in Kansai and at Hankyu Umeda Main Store, so some exhibitors will be making their first appearance.

LABOUR AND WAIT, a London general goods store run by Bshop, stocks fun everyday items such as kitchen utensils and cleaning supplies collected from around the world, mainly from Europe. "gui," a new brand launched this fall by flower artist Yuki Maeda, will be available as a flower shop called "TABLE GARDEN SHOP by gui yuki maeda." Based on the theme of "desktop gardens," the brand will offer items created specifically for the event, such as herbariums and mini swags, as well as a limited-time event where Maeda will arrange bouquets herself. CACUMA, a clothing brand created by Yoshie Watanabe of KIGI, who is gaining widespread attention in the design field, and Hobonichi, will also be making its first appearance at the exhibition. In addition to past items featuring Watanabe's captivating drawings, visitors will be able to get their hands on limited-edition new fall/winter collections early. At the 10th floor Umeda Souq, unir coffee, which has a permanent store there, will collaborate with Hobonichi's new "O2" series to develop a "wonderful blend," selling special drinks made with beans and Hobonichi ingredients. Don't miss the "Hankyu Buyer's Daily Shop," where buyers from the Hankyu Umeda Main Store will be filled with the passion of creating a store like this, and the "Hobonichi Archive Fest," featuring past products and samples that are not currently available at the Hobonichi Store.

There will also be new projects and stores different from those held in Ebisu, Tokyo. LDKWARE, a brand developed by Hobonichi and YAECA that sells clothes for the living room, dining room, and kitchen, will allow you to purchase currently sold-out items before they are restocked on the website. From September 22nd to 24th, "Shiho Nakashima's Snack Shop" will be open for a limited time, featuring "foodmood" cookie boxes that are hard to find even in Tokyo.

And "undöse," popular for its one-of-a-kind leather bags and accessories that quickly sold out at the first "Joys of Life Exhibition," will be selling bags and pochettes for this event. "weeksdays," a new brand launched this summer by Masako Ito and Hobonichi, will be opening a shop where you can touch and feel original and special-order products that are usually only available online.

At the popular MHL booth "Little Flea Market," where you can purchase product samples that are not normally available at reasonable prices, in addition to samples, this time around, items that are only available at the Daikanyama flagship store in Tokyo will also be available. Stores that were popular for their light, summery items at the Ebisu event, such as "Clothing Store Made by Todoroki Setsuko" and "Tailoring Atelier by Ito Naomi," will now have an autumn/winter lineup. Stores that are rarely seen in Kansai, such as "The Ins and Outs of Kobayashi Kazuto's Life" and "PUEBCO Presents Miscellaneous Goods Buffet," will also be setting up stalls.

ENOMONO, born at the 3rd "The Joys of Life" exhibition and created by the rare collaboration between "TONKO HOUSE," an animation studio founded by former Pixar employee Tsutsumi Daisuke and his friends, and Kyoto-based painter Junaida, will also make its Kansai debut.

The Joys of Living exhibition will also feature a lively store stocked with delicious food.
All of the products are delicious and popular, including "Saikichi's Sea and Mountain Products," which delivers the bounty of Kesennuma's sea and the flavors of its mountains; "The Premium Umeboshi Shop," from BumbooCut, where you can choose from a single umeboshi; "HAPPY NUTS DAY Peanut Butter Shop," where you can enjoy peanut butter in its purest form, with or without the umeboshi; "Hayashiya Nori Shop," where you can find "Umi Daijin," a delicacy seaweed that is a huge hit every season at Hobonichi Stores; "tretre Picked Herbs Blend Tea" and "Niyodo Hinoki Water," Japanese herbal teas made with wildflowers from Kochi's Niyodo River; "Hobonichi Honey Japanese Flowers" and "Curry's Gratitude Gourmet Popcorn."
In addition, there will be a number of special talk shows and events. Shigesato Itoi, CEO of Hobonichi Co., Ltd., which is organizing the exhibition, will hold a talk show with Ito Masako titled "What is the Joy of Life?" on September 19th, "My First Maekawa Kiyoshi - Talk Edition" with Maekawa Kiyoshi on the 20th, and "Shigesato's Room - Guest: Miura Jun" with Miura Jun on the 24th.

Other exciting events planned include the "Hobonichi Techo Meeting Caravan" and the "Dokonoko Offline Gathering" for the dog and cat SNS app, as well as "Face Drawing - NIGSOESKY" by manga artist Wada Radio and illustrator Shimoda Masakatsu, and a tasting of sweets made with "Oyatsu Mix" by chef Nakashima Shiho.
