The "Koenji x Asagaya Film Festival" will be held on September 21st, taking place in seven vacant storefronts and warehouses beneath the JR Chuo Line's Koenji and Asagaya overpasses.

Koenji and Asagaya are just a five-minute ride on the Chuo Line from Shinjuku. There, various cultures mingle in a motley mix, creating an atmosphere and way of life where each culture is tolerant of the others. Experience life in this town through film, and hear local residents talk about their own town.
The setting is the vacant storefronts and warehouses beneath the overpasses. The main venue will be a vacant warehouse under the elevated railway, a vacant storefront on Koenji Street, a Koenji apartment, Asagaya Anime Street, a vacant storefront on Asagaya Gold Street, and the entrance to Beans Tekute Plaza/Beans Tekute Nakasugi Street. The event will feature seven locations: a vacant warehouse under the elevated railway, a vacant storefront on Koenji Street, a Koenji apartment, Asagaya Anime Street, a vacant storefront on Asagaya Gold Street, and the entrance to Beans Tekute Nakasugi Street. Films representative of Koenji and Asagaya will be screened, along with outstanding works selected from the Under-Elevated Student Film Screening Competition. Local individuals will also serve as hosts and hold talks about the connections between film and the city, which only those who live and work there can understand. Details of the films being screened and how to watch them will be updated regularly on the event's social media. Submissions for the Under-Elevated Student Film Screening Competition are open until August 20th on the website (https://goo.gl/forms/hCxeMZRcizE4yWNu1). Watching a movie on Friday night, then heading out to your favorite bar, may change the way you see the city. Children may have memories of experiencing this town that they cannot get at a movie theater. This one-night-only film festival is a chance to experience the everyday and the extraordinary on a long autumn night, with the hope that such scenes will gradually spread throughout the town, with local restaurants turning their establishments into movie theaters and creating a scene where people can enjoy themselves in their own way.
