Following its successful run at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and its international tour to London and New York, "Christian Dior, Couturier of Dreams" will return to the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) from December 21, 2022. This special exhibition celebrates the sincere and precious ties between Dior and Japan.

Guided by a new spatial presentation designed by OMA's partner, architect Shohei Shigematsu, as a tribute to Japanese culture, and reimagined by Florence Muller, this retrospective sheds light on more than 75 years of passion with fascinating discoveries: from the artistic influences of founder Christian Dior, to his love of gardens, the magic of lavish balls, and the fascination with the rich Japanese creativity that influenced Dior's collections from the very beginning. This enduring friendship, bound by unique collaborations and mutual admiration, is reflected through rare archival materials, much of which is on display for the first time. The exhibition features accessories and haute couture models from past to present, including the "Bar" suit, a timeless symbol of the New Look. Each piece conceived by Christian Dior and his successors as creative directors, including Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri, is on display. The exhibition features fascinating works, including rare pieces from the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo's collection and photographs taken exclusively for the exhibition and poster by Japanese photographer Yuriko Takagi. The exhibition also showcases innovative icons that represent the brand's history and constant ingenuity, such as the Lady Dior, Miss Dior, and J'Adore bags, which have been reinterpreted in the Dior Lady Art and Lady Dior as Seen By collections, continuing Christian Dior's visionary vision.
