■ "In My Room" by Saul Leiter

"In My Room," comprised of photographs recently discovered in Saul Leiter's extensive archive, offers a glimpse into the profound depths of his nude studies through his intimate photographs of women. In the 1970s, Leiter planned to compile a photo book of nudes, but the project never materialized. This book presents for the first time a body of work he began after arriving in New York in 1946, but which has not been seen for 20 years. The photographs in this book were taken in Leiter's studio in New York's East Village, lit by the lush greenery and natural light of the city. Leiter, who was also a painter, incorporated abstract elements into these photographs, and his work bears the influence of his favorite artists, Pierre Bonnard, Édouard Vuillard, and Henri Matisse.
