Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read right now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, we will introduce books selected by Shelf, a Harajuku bookstore specializing in foreign books (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

■ "68TH STREET" by Ueda Yoshihiko
Yoshihiko Ueda has continued to take photographs at the forefront of photography, regardless of the category he takes. He has now photographed a series using a single piece of paper as its motif.
The light falling into a room on 68th Street in New York changes shape moment by moment, and eventually disappears. From that day on, Ueda pursued that light every day without tireless pursuit, capturing with perfect beauty on monochrome photographic paper the light and the resulting shadows—the very essence of photography, a mission he aspired to.
These photographs were entrusted to Fabien Baron, a world-renowned director whom Ueda trusts and who has worked on Bottega Veneta's Spring/Summer 2018 campaign, among others.
Printing and binding were handled by San-M Color in Kyoto. San-M Color, known for its fine art printing of numerous photo books, art books, calendars, and more, uses high-precision 1,000 dpix printing, UV ink, and embossing, resulting in a finished product that represents the pinnacle of Japanese printing and binding technology.

Gallery 916, curated by Yoshihiko Ueda, closed on May 20, 2018, due to the redevelopment of the area around Takeshiba Station and the demolition of the Suzue Warehouse Building. As its final exhibition, the gallery held a Yoshihiko Ueda photo exhibition of this series, titled "68th Street: Memories of Light."
