On October 3rd, Stella McCartney unveiled her Summer 2023 collection.

Presented during Paris Fashion Week at Place Georges Pompidou in front of the Centre Pompidou, Stella McCartney's Summer 2023 collection was the brand's first-ever outdoor democratic demonstration. Models walked a colorful runway that paid homage to the iconic facade of the Pompidou Centre, the cultural capital of France. The collection, which blends art and fashion, featured the work of legendary artist Yoshitomo Nara and was inspired by his powerful message to "change the history."

A minimalist and sensual collection that reaffirms Stella McCartney's DNA and origins, emphasising silhouettes and wardrobe elements. Lightweight pieces made from soft materials blend casual and formal. Savile Row tailoring exudes a relaxed mood this season, with bias-cut skirt suits. Inspired by sensual lingerie lace, jackets are accented with glittering chains and crystal body jewellery, and the feet are paired with nude fishnet stocking sandals that evoke the image of bare feet.

Metallic silver crystals are applied in a minimalist way to a structured cape-sleeve T-shirt dress, while a tailored tracksuit is tailored to fit the body perfectly.

Denim is further evolved in deconstructed silhouettes paired with Alter Mat. Alter Mat, a leather alternative, is featured in the details of wide-leg trousers and chaps. A bold statement on animal rights.

Yoshitomo Nara's work is based on the brand's iconic styles, featuring his wide-eyed girls, fearless children in animal costumes, and activist messages. Nara's work also appears on stretch crinkle knit dresses, shirts, and dresses featuring bias-cut hems. In addition, Stella McCartney will launch a unisex capsule collection in collaboration with Yoshitomo Nara in December 2022.

Tailoring and cargo pants are reimagined as limoncello-hued vests and trousers, reflecting a surf-girl attitude. They are paired with vegan heeled sandals dubbed "Stella 100." Lead-free rhinestones adorn jumpsuits, cutout dresses, and asymmetrical tops and skirts, elevating a new style into evening glamour. The summer collection's glittering crystal story is told through the iconic Falabella clutch and S Wave party bag. The S Wave shoulder bag is crafted from a grape-derived leather alternative, while the Flame Milo™ bag is crafted from mycelium, the underground root system of mushrooms. The Flame bag, crafted in puffer fabric, softens the collection, while the new Opanka vegan strappy sandal with a cushioned sole and heel adds a touch of sexiness to the season.

With 87% of the ready-to-wear pieces made from sustainable materials, this is the brand's most sustainable collection to date and includes shirts made from recycled cotton, a first for a luxury brand. The brand is working to minimize the carbon footprint required for the show and will also be working on carbon offsetting in the future.
