Cornelius releases Japan's first Spotify-exclusive album, including a cover of Drake

May 16, 2018

Cornelius has announced a Spotify-exclusive release, "Spotify Singles."

He released his album "Mellow Waves" in June last year, released the second album for NHK Educational TV's popular program "Design Ah!" in March this year, and is scheduled to appear at Sonic Mania in August. Cornelius, who is actively involved in music production and live performances, has finally made his debut on "Spotify Singles."

"Spotify Singles" is an original Spotify program that has already featured leading artists from various music genres, including Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus, Norah Jones, and Phoenix. The cover songs they perform on each release are particularly noteworthy. Taylor Swift's cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's classic "Semptenber" generated a lot of buzz. Cornelius, the first Japanese artist to participate in this program, will perform "If You're Here" from "Mellow Waves" and a cover of hip-hop artist Drake's hit song "Passionfruit." "Passionfruit" in particular is presented with Cornelius' signature sound while making use of the floating feeling and light rhythm of the original, so we hope you will enjoy comparing the two versions.
