NikeLab has announced the NIKELAB ACG SUMMER 2018 collection, its All Conditions Gear (ACG) collection for various conditions.
All Conditions Gear was created with the goal of "creating garments that can handle the worst, and that feel like they're not just being worn out of necessity." At the heart of the NIKELAB ACG SUMMER 2018 collection is Gore-Tex, a material typically reserved for cold climates. "This season, we wanted to explore the power of modular systems in both men's and women's styles. From that idea, we discussed what combinations of elements are needed for summer apparel to adapt to different situations," said Johanna Schneider. From this discussion, Schneider and her NikeLab ACG collaborator, Errolson Hugh, identified three pillars for the collection: the practicality of Gore-Tex, the breathability of fleece, and the freedom of movement of our popular pants. While the common belief is that Gore-Tex is only used for cold, rainy seasons, Schneider reimagined its summer applications, focusing on how Gore-Tex not only provides protection, but also a flexible, breathable barrier for unpredictable summer weather. "The beauty of Gore-Tex is that it's both protective and breathable, making it a fabric that can be worn 365 days a year," Schneider said. "We created a summery silhouette that's perfect for beach house days, too."
NIKELAB ACG GORE-TEX Men's Jacket (¥64,800 including tax)
The collection's signature item is the "NIKELAB ACG GORE-TEX Jacket." This unisex, three-layer outer garment features detachable sleeves that can be extended beyond the three-quarter length. Multiple pockets provide ample storage for valuables, and an internal carry strap keeps layers within reach for quick on and off.
NIKELAB ACG Women's Tank (¥6,480 including tax)
Another distinctive item from the collection is a fleece designed like a PO hoodie. Regarding this fleece, Schneider says, "I wondered what a summer fleece would be like. I considered the overall design, using mesh around the neck to increase breathability and keep your head from getting too sweaty even when wearing the hood."

The new cargo pants are also designed with versatility in mind, featuring segmented construction for enhanced mobility, elastic cargo pockets with zipper and snap closures, and a functional zipper down the front. Also noteworthy is the fact that this collection features only one style of pants for both men and women. This was a decision made after Schneider considered what was appropriate for the summer, saying, "One pair of long pants is enough for summer." Also new this time are cargo shorts made with a partially knitted material, creating a similar design for both men and women. This is a first for NIKELAB ACG, featuring seamless knit fabric in the arm sleeves and leg sleeves. The collection will be available from May 17th at NIKE.COM/NIKELAB, NIKELAB MA5, DSM GINZA, and other select retailers. Why not spend the summer actively wearing these highly practical items?
