New Bar "Earl's" at House Without a Key
On September 15, 2022, the Halekulani (Waikiki, Hawaii) announced the grand opening of its popular casual dining restaurant, House Without a Key, after renovations and featuring a new menu. For many years, House Without a Key has been a favorite destination for tourists and locals alike, offering a Hawaiian band, traditional hula performances, and a prime oceanfront location for enjoying sunsets and cocktails.

As part of a hotel-wide renovation project that began in 2020 and took just over a year to complete, the restaurant's furniture and decorations were renewed, and a new outdoor bar, "EARL'S," named after Earl Derr Biggers, author of the 1925 suspense novel "House Without a Key," which was set in the restaurant, was added as a gathering place for guests.

The kitchen has been transformed into an open kitchen and is equipped with a custom-made brick oven made in Italy. The menu has been reimagined by Halekulani Executive Chef Christian Testa and House Without a Key Executive Chef Jarrin Otake. The newly opened bar, "Earl's," will serve Halekulani's signature cocktail, the Mai Tai, as well as new cocktails inspired by the history and stories of Halekulani and House Without a Key. Among the cocktails on offer are daiquiri-based cocktails beloved by Ernest Miller Hemingway, a famous American novelist and poet who became a regular at the Halekulani after his honeymoon in 1940. Hemingway's favorite table, "Table 97," overlooks Diamond Head.

Entertainment at House Without a Key begins every evening at 5:30 PM, featuring captivating hula performances by former Miss Hawaii and Miss Hawaii USA, along with Hawaiian band music. Breakfast is served from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM, lunch from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and sunset cocktails or dinner from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
