To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Shuji Terayama's death, the Daikanyama T-SITE GARDEN GALLERY, an event space at Daikanyama T-SITE in Daikanyama, Tokyo, will be holding a special exhibition, "Terayama Shuji's Mysterious Bookstore," for four days from March 24th to 27th.

Even now, 35 years after his death, Shuji Terayama remains an enduring icon in various fields of expression. This exhibition will display more than 1,000 books from his actual library (owned by the Terayama Shuji Memorial Museum in Misawa City), the source of his creativity, making it the largest exhibition ever. Also on display and for sale will be bold and innovative theater posters created by cutting-edge graphic designers such as Yokoo Tadanori and Uno Akira in connection with underground theater, exemplified by the theater laboratory "Tenjo Sajiki" that he presided over.
Also, to mark the second reprint of "Questions" (first published in 1977), a book by Tanaka Michi, who supported Terayama Shuji's work as his secretary and manager, the venue will screen a short film directed by Tanaka Michi in which Terayama Shuji answers the "questions" from the book. On March 24th, the first day of the exhibition, there will be a talk event featuring Tanaka Michi, author of "Questions" (published by Bungeishunju), and book designer Sobue Shin.

In addition, the venue will be selling the photo book "Ah, Wilderness," newly taken by photographer Daido Moriyama to coincide with the film adaptation of Terayama Shuji's only full-length novel, "Ah, Wilderness," which swept domestic film awards this year, as well as a special edition of "Ah, Wilderness" (co-authored by Terayama Shuji and Moriyama Daido), limited to 50 copies in 2006, and other out-of-print books. Original goods will also be on sale, including handkerchiefs printed with Terayama Shuji's handwritten manuscripts, created in cooperation with the fashion brand "THEATRE PRODUCTS."

Take this opportunity to immerse yourself in the mysterious world of Terayama Shuji, which remains relevant today.
