The On Sundays basement bookstore at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting a pop-up themed around cassette tapes and vintage boomboxes, "Boom & Tapes: Cassette Tape Music and Vintage Boomboxes," from March 15th to May 13th.



The cassette tape lineup includes a newly recorded mix by DJ KINKA, the first BEAT cassette tape by CONB (R61boys), an ek-sports hip-hop collective based deep off Prefectural Route 61, and mixtapes by mAsa niwayama, who is making his presence known as a key figure connecting the worlds of Thailand and Japan, and SEI, owner of bar bonobo in Oku-Harajuku. In addition to the music, you can also enjoy the jacket designs, just like ZIN.

We also have vintage boomboxes from the 70s and 80s on display and for sale, from Sony Walkmans to heavy-duty ghetto blasters.
